SUBMIT YOUR WORK TO RE/STRICT
RE/STRICT is a one-night exhibition confronting the growing wave of censorship in the U.S. As politicians and institutions try to shut down honest expressions of sexuality, identity, and power, this show features film, photography, and performance rooted in kink. It makes space for work that is often labeled as “too explicit,” “too political,” or “too much” — and presents it without apology, without dilution, and without compromise.
Submitting your work to RE/STRICT is free and easy:
Step 1:
Read instructions associated with your submission medium (below).
Step 2:
Complete/provide all requested forms and documents.
Step 3:
Please include all necessary files and paperwork in one folder with the title in the name and send via Dropbox or Google Drive.
Step 4:
Email your submission to info@restrictfilm.com with all the requested information below.
PLEASE NOTE: All work should challenge mainstream norms and center fat, queer, trans, non-binary, disabled, and/or BIPOC identities.
We will not accept submissions involving minors, animals, necrophilia, vomit, snuff, or scat. Thank you for respecting these guidelines.
FILM SUBMISSIONS
What to Include:
Your film file (.mp4 or .mov preferred)
Completed Entry Form (attached as a PDF)
Signed Performer Release Forms for all performers in the film
Government Photo ID copies for age verification of all performers
All paperwork is kept secure and will never be shared.
Film Guidelines:
Length: 2–45 minutes is ideal (we accept up to 45 minutes, but shorter films have a better chance of selection).
Orientation: Films should be shot horizontally (landscape orientation).
Resolution: 1080p minimum.
Frame Rate: 24 fps preferred.
Audio: 48k, 16-bit, Stereo preferred.
PHOTOGRAPHY & MIXED MEDIA SUBMISSIONS
What to Include:
Submit up to 5 high-resolution images (JPEG/PNG).
Please describe your preferred presentation of the work, including physical dimensions and if the work is being submitted as individual work(s) or as a series.
Include an artist statement sharing your vision and intent.
Photography/Mixed Media Guidelines:

LIVE PERFORMANCE SUBMISSIONS
Performance Length: 5–15 minutes
What to Include:
A video of your performance (if applicable) OR a detailed written proposal
Any technical needs, props, and content warnings

ADDITIONAL INFO
Submission Limits: You can submit one piece in each category of media.
We will not accept submissions involving minors, animals, necrophilia, vomit, snuff, or scat. Thank you for respecting these guidelines.
Selection Process: If selected, we will notify you via email. All chosen artists receive one free ticket to the event.
Selling Your Work: Artists can sell merchandise, prints, or zines at the event (space is limited—you MUST request space in advance, artists are in charge of ALL SALES.)
Limited-Edition Festival VHS Tape (Optional): Video artists can opt-in to have their work included in a festival-exclusive film release. Profits will be shared after production costs across all artists.
